In a heartbreaking event, a 12-year-old schoolboy lost his life after being struck by a truck driven by a reportedly intoxicated driver in Borivali East on Friday afternoon. The victim, identified as Vicky Satyendra Kanojia, was on his way to school with friends when the tragedy occurred.

## *Details of the Accident*

The incident took place around 12:30 PM in the Carter Road No 3 area. According to police reports, Vicky was walking alongside his schoolmates when a truck carrying stones collided with him at high speed. Eyewitnesses described the horrifying moment as the boy fell and was tragically crushed beneath the rear wheel of the vehicle.

Passersby quickly alerted the driver to stop and rushed the severely injured Vicky to Shatabdi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

## *Driver Apprehended*

Residents managed to apprehend the driver as he attempted to flee the scene. “When we confronted the driver, a strong whiff of alcohol hit us. He was clearly intoxicated,” recounted one local.

Following the incident, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the driver under section 106 for causing death by a rash or negligent act. He has since been arrested, and authorities have conducted a medical examination, including blood tests, to determine his alcohol levels at the time of the accident.
